I say it’s national cynicism week.

How very clever. I can see Karl Rove strategizing this one.
“Hmmm… It’s getting harder and harder to hide from the people the fact that the Bush Regime are a toxic, power-hungry bunch of weak-minded hypocrites with absolutely no strength of character whatsoever. How can we get the right-wing sheep who have kept us in power to keep drinking the Kool Aid? Wait – I’ve got it! Let’s create a national ‘Hey, Didn’t Bush Say Something About Character Once?’ week! That will make all the Right-Wingnuts forget all the bad stuff we’ve done.”

From the article: “During National Character Counts Week, we renew our commitment to instilling values in our young people and to encouraging all Americans to remember the importance of good character.”

I can already see the administration’s commitment to this. Mark Foley apparently felt it was his duty to work on his own time instilling these values in young people — one boy at a time…
