Stuck east of Snoqualmie Pass

November 24, 2006

I’m in eastern Washington for Thanksgiving, visiting my partner’s family in beautiful Moses Lake and Ritzville.  These small towns are about three hours’ east of Seattle.  We thought we’d be heading to Seattle this afternoon, but it looks like were stuck here for another night because Snoqualmie Pass has been closed in both directions.  Lots of snowfall overnight has caused sufficient worry for an avalanche, it seems.  This morning there were two unfortunate deaths in a car crash on the pass.  I’m happy enough to be safe at the family’s house, eating leftover turkey with brie sandwiched in yummy yeast rolls.

It’s nice to hang out with some microbrews and strong coffee knowing I won’t be making it back to a big city any time soon.  At least, for now!
