Portland to shut down: grass dustings are coming!

grass dusting of snowLooks like we could get a little snow tomorrow morning!

Here in Portland, we don’t get snow very much.  When we’re fortunate enough to get some flurries, the whole town seizes up in a curious paroxysm of joy and fear.  So, when there’s a chance of snow – even grass dustings – it causes a bit of hype that people who live in areas with “real weather” find laughable.

What they don’t understand is that we NEED snow, we WANT snow, and our intense focus on it when it may come is a display of wistfulness for a real winter in the city.

Mid-morning on Christmas Day, it snowed in Portland, and it was one of the most beautiful afternoons ever.

More, please.  More than just grass dustings.
