I love buffleheads

April 6, 2008

I live near Mt. Tabor Park, and I discovered that buffleheads nest there in the winters. They’re these little diving ducks who come in pairs. You can find them in Oregon and Washington’s rivers and waterways during the winter months. This picture is of a female swimming near the old fishing docks in Astoria. I took it in February.

Buffleheads are sweet little ducks, aren’t they? Below is a photo I took of a male – they’re a bit brighter.

deet-deet!
